Jurassic World 2 Poster Promises the Park Is Gone

By  |

A new poster for Jurassic World has arrived online in advance of the new and final full-length trailer for the sequel, which arrives tomorrow. This movie is going to shake things up quite a bit, as a massive volcanic eruption is going to destroy Isla Nublar, where all of the dinosaurs have been roaming free since the events of the first Jurassic World. As this new poster teases, the events of the upcoming sequel are going to close the park for good, because it’s not even going to be there anymore.

This new poster for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom features the shot from the trailer with the T-rex roaring in front of the erupting volcano. Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard) and Owen (Chris Pratt), as well as one of the new human characters, are unfortunately very close to the dangerous situation. The poster features the tagline, “The park is gone.” This is a riff on the tagline for Jurassic World, “The park is open.” Not only is the park no longer going to be open, but it looks like Isla Nublar is pretty much going to be wiped off the map.

It looks like this movie is going to have a lot of surprises in store. Colin Trevorrow, who directed Jurassic World and co-wrote the script for this upcoming installment, has stated that the volcanic eruption happens within the first hour of the movie. That means there’s an awful lot of dino action that is going to take place outside of the confines of the abandoned park. A recent teaser for the upcoming Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom trailer showcases dinosaurs out in the real world, which could hint at where the franchise will go from here.

J.A. Bayona directs Jurassic World 2. Universal has already announced that Jurassic World 3 will arrive on June 11, 2021, with Colin Trevorrow returning to the director’s chair. That means this movie is going to leave things open for the finale to this new trilogy. The idea of dinosaurs coming to the mainland isn’t totally new, as The Lost World: Jurassic Park brought a T-rex to San Diego. However, it looks like this idea is going to be explored on a much larger scale in the upcoming sequels. With this poster promising that the park is gone for good, the dinosaurs who survive the volcanic eruption will need to go somewhere. Dinosaurs and man may be struggling to find a way to co-exist.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom arrives in theaters on June 22. With the final trailer arriving soon, it’s possible that Universal will also make pre-sale tickets available in the near future as well, so that will be something to keep an eye out for. Be sure to check back tomorrow for the new trailer, which we’ll have for you as soon as its made available.
